Statement released by Consul Craig in relation to SALDAL accusations and press comments regarding this.

Consul Craig today posted a statement in relation to allegations by SALDAL and press comments made by the national paper: "the Leylandiistan Sentinel". It is shown below:
Today, I would like to talk about some issues raised by the recent accusations by SALDAL (the Socialist, Anti-Conflict, Liberal Democratic Alliance of Leylandiistan) I will be bringing up 3 issues:
1. the pervertion of the press by government members
2. falsities in the accusations made by SALDAL
3. Errors in the press and inaccurate reporting
First I would like to address the issue of pervertion of the press by government members:
In the latest (at time of writing) 3rd issue of the Leylandiistan Sentinal, the paper reported some accusations being made by the other party in our coalition: 'SALDAL'. After quoting some statements made by Mr. Shane Cahill, leader of SALDAL, the paper clearly stated in the final sentence of the article: "No doubt this was an embarrassing blunder for the Centralist’s, and certainly one to be brought up before the election in June." This normally would be acceptable for a newspaper to publish, due to Leylandiistan's stance towards freedom of speech, however it is not so in this case. This is because, the newspaper is written and edited by none other than the same Mr. Shane Cahill, who made the accusations about our website. Surely, if I have read it correctly, this is a clear pervertion of the press, as Mr. Cahill is using the nation's main newspaper to further weaken the image of the CDP, when a newspaper must be written to not do so.
Secondly, I would like to address the issue of falsities in the accusations made by SALDAL in relation to our website:
When SALDAL accused the CDP of, in essence, copying them in making our website, Mr. Cahill released a statement pointing out similarities- no pardon me, "identical" elements of our website to theirs. He said: "The navigation bar and background colour, as well as certain website features, are all identical to my party’s website, which was in fact set up nearly two weeks before CDP set up their website!" The reason I have highlighted identical, is because the very features he pointed out were all at least some bit different, but not identical. The navigation bar while, yes, sharing the same colour, only then shares the 'Get Involved' and 'News' tabs, both of which are very common for a government party website. The background colour of our website is red, whereas the background colour of SALDAL's is much darker, this is completely acceptable, and I see no need to change it in the future. Mr. Cahill did not specify what "certain website features" he meant, so I cannot speak on those today.
Lastly, I would like to address the issue of errors in the press and inaccurate reporting:
In the same article as mentioned in the first issue, the Sentinal quoted a "statement" by myself, claiming I had said that it proved to be “the most attractive design” for the website. This is completely false, as I never released a statement, (in fact this is my first statement as party leader) which renders any of the comments therein clearly 'made up' by the paper and false and give them no standing in further proceedings involving these issues. I do not believe this is accurate or professional reporting, and urge the paper to be more certain about their editing in the future.
